What can I say about that other than it changes?! Typically in October during the rut elk hunts the weather is fair. A light jacket is usually all that is needed then. Sometimes fall can be fairly wet so rain gear is recommended. Temperatures are moderate.
Clothes:
Bring camouflage--both light weight and something a little warmer. There are no orange requirements in New Mexico. You should bring a camo net face mask and gloves. Yes I know that sounds strange, but please do, we often get very close.
